The tools are different instruments that allow us to gather information, ideas, and people's perceptions regarding a particular issue or problem. The information obtained is systematized and delivered to those responsible for planning and all those who are interested in collectively building cities.

1. Measurements of public life

To obtain information on how many people participated in the tactics, a count was carried out using the methodology developed by Jan Gehl. Two measurements were implemented; days before the application of the tactics, December 1, and the same day of the tactic, December 3. The measurement points were established at the two entrances enabled for the Jungla Urbana ravine.
On an average day 354 people go down to the ravines, but when you activate them that number can quadruple to reach 1,422 people.

When we occupy the ravines, we make this place a public space for everyone!

3. Surveys

In a survey applied in zones 15 and 10, 65% of the people surveyed agreed that ravine helps to get to know the neighbors and to integrate into the community. Knowing also helps reduce the feeling of insecurity, both in relation to the ravine itself, and to the people who walk and live in it. In fact, 64% of those surveyed agreed that ravine helps reduce the feeling of insecurity in ravines.

Many of the ravines of Guatemala City are places with great natural wealth, inhabited by hundreds of plants and animals, many times unknown to us. When we activate the ravines in a respectful way with the environment, we can observe, recognize, discover and value all the manifestations of nature contained therein. Knowing and putting in value the natural wealth is the first step for its care and protection. This vision is shared by 66% of the people surveyed who agreed that ravine helps to value and protect nature.

4. Citizen Charter

In a participatory manner, a citizen letter was developed, in which citizens were invited to care for and conserve the Micro-basins of Guatemala City. This letter was supported by more than a thousand people, who asked for a more determined action on the part of the authorities in the management and care of the ravines.

Institutional strengthening and governance

In order to promote citizen activation generated around the protection of the ravines, meeting instances were generated to deliver some tools that would allow organized citizens to plan short, medium and long-term actions that would give sustainability to the work started .

This is how the “Mesa de Barranqueros” arises, an innovative governance proposal for the ravines, made up of a multidisciplinary group of active citizens who work collectively for the promotion, rescue and their sustainable preservation of the basins and micro-basins of Guatemala.
