María Paz Cuevas Silva has worked for over 20 years in prominent national magazines such as Fibra, Caras, Paula, Ya, Sábado, and Domingo, as well as for newspapers like La Nación Domingo, Las Últimas Noticias, El Mercurio, and The Clinic. She is a professor of narrative: she taught for several years at the Faculty of Communications at Universidad Diego Portales, taught writing at Universidad Católica, and undergraduate Spanish at NYU. She is a three-time winner of the Lorenzo Natali Prize from the European Commission for journalism that defends democracy and human rights.
She is the author of seven books, including non-fiction novels, poetry, and children's literature: Un lugar en la Tierra (2013), Papito Corazón (2015), Ciudadanos Promedio (2019), Florecer una Araucaria (2022), La pregunta de Guillermina (2022), Mi Miedo y yo (2023), and Aquí en la Orilla (2023). In addition, María Paz is a poet, painter, muralist, illustrator, and embroiderer on fabric and paper. She creates handmade books and leads storytelling, drawing, and art activities for children. She also writes poetry and conducts poetic interventions in various locations, particularly along the central coast. She currently lives by the sea on Chile’s central coast.
