CONCÓN ENVIRONMENTAL PARTNER INNOVATION PARK
In Magallanes avenue, Concón commune, next to where the Casa Abierta Cultural Center currently works, there is a large plot of no less than 14 thousand square meters, now in disuse. That is about to change because a 100 percent innovative project would change the place and completely renew its operation. This is the "Concón Socio-environmental Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park", which has been designed by Ciudad Emergente with focus on communities, public space and efficient use of energy.
The project consists on a building that is thought and created to be completely efficient in high standard energy issues in Latin America, also providing the community with a park where outdoor activities, community initiatives and cultural events can be held.
The design is revolutionary. Its facade is covered with a large “skin” of solar protection that keeps away direct solar radiation to interior spaces, facilitate cooling and helps with natural daylight, reducing the need for air conditioning and heating. This translates to 80 percent energy savings compared to a standard building.
The project aims to become an architectural and environmental benchmark because it is designed to save natural resources applied to its operation. The park's irrigation, for example, will be generated in the same place because the project considers a treatment plant that will produce the water necessary to irrigate the 14 thousand meters of land (saving 10 million pesos annually).
Its roof has a solar energy plant that reduces electricity consumption by more than three million pesos annually. However, this is not the only striking thing: it also has an urban cultivation greenhouse that gives the possibility of planting vegetables in the city itself, once again bringing the innovative project closer to the community.
