Esteban is a director of Ciudad Emergente. He works as a professor at the Public Policies Institute of the Universidad Diego Portales and a research associate at Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center of Columbia University. He has also worked as a professor of Sociology at the Universidad Católica de Chile and a consultant for the United Nations, Harvard University, the Center for Retirement Research and the Government of Chile.
His research aims at identifying and understanding the social factors experienced during a lifetime that influence the health and happiness of seniors, as well as evaluating public policies and interventions that contribute to improving their wellbeing and society’s as a whole. He has authored more that 30 articles, policy papers, books, and chapters of books for which he has received prizes from the American Sociological Association, the American Public Health Association, the Gerontological Society of America and the Retirement Research Foundation.
